Some Nigerians probably supporters of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, have taken to social media, to react to the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Maiduguri, Borno state.
The President is currently attending the chief of army staff, COAS Annual Conference 2018 holding at Command Guest House in Maiduguri, which was initially slated to hold in Benin city before it was moved to Maiduguri, following the Boko Haram attack on a military base in Metele village, that left many soldiers dead.
Some Nigerians have criticized the President’s visit to Maiduguri, claiming it is solely for media ops and not because Buhari cares. Some argued that Buhari remained silent after the deadly Metele attack, only to reveal his shock, one week after. There were also those, who attacked the president for not visiting Borno before now but had to wait till election time, to do so.
Here’s what some Nigerian Twitter users have to say
Buhari arrives Maiduguri for a media circus with soldiers imported from another state because the ones on ground are decimated and in miserable condition.
A wicked man who cares for nothing beyond himself and being seen as likeable. pic.twitter.com/gpipMZWJFH— Ndi Kato (@YarKafanchan) November 28, 2018
It took @MBuhari a whole week to express "SHOCK" over the killing of over 100 soldiers by Boko Haram and it took the outcry of Nigerians for him to visit Maiduguri. Let him visit Metele #BloodOfSlainedSoldiers

So Boko Haram 8s technically defeated but Buhari is visiting Maiduguri and all the roads are blocked. What are we afraid of?

@MBuhari waited for hundreds of our soldiers to be killed by Book Haram, he made merry after they were killed and went about holding political meetings, now he is in Maiduguri to shed crocodile tears.#BloodOfSlainedSoldiers

Before 18th Nov 2018 that INEC declared for commencement of 2019 elections campaign, Buhari did NOT visit any venue of killings of citizens by herdsmen nor soldiers by Boko Haram.
😔 Buhari in Maiduguri, desperate to renew his political goodwill with the #BloodOfSlainedSoldiers
