Thiery Henry got his first win as Monaco’s manger after his side beat Caen by a lone goal during their domestic league meeting yesterday at the Stade Michel d’Ornano ground of Caen. The Frenchman took over from his predecessor after he was sacked following strings of winless run that plunged the former Ligue 1 champions into relegation zone.
The 2017 Ligue 1 champions had to wait for 6 weeks before getting their first taste of maximum points since the French football legend took over the helms.
Ramadael Falcao whose stunning free kick from around 20 yards was the difference during the encounter also scored his fifth of the season and his first in almost 2 months.
There was however nervy moment in added time as Caen put the ball in the back of the net but Henry got the benefit of a VAR decision when the goal was disallowed for an offside against Paul Baysse. That ensured a first clean sheet for Monaco since August, as well as a first win since the opening weekend.
