Saraki appoints Doyin Okupe as head of media campaign

Tuesday, 11 September 2018

Senate president Bukola Saraki has appointed Doyin Okupe, a former aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan as chairman of the media council for his  campaign organization.

This was made known by Mohammed Wakil, director general of the Saraki Presidential Campaign Organisation.

Wakil, in a statement had said Okupe will “work with other top professionals in the team to effectively communicate the campaign messages of Dr. Saraki to the people of Nigeria and the international community”.

According to the statement, “Okupe, a medical doctor and politician, had served as the National Publicity Secretary of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC) in the aborted Third Republic, Director of Communications of the Presidential campaigns of two former presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan and later served as senior special assistant on Media and Public Affairs to both Presidents.”

Okupe recently drew attention to himself after he made a statement in Saraki’s favour,  that denigrated Atiku Abubakar.

Okupe had said ‘it will take Nigeria 10 years to recover if Atiku rules for a day but Nigeria will make history, if Saraki rules’

Although, Okupe had said the statement didn’t originate from him, as he only modified it, supporters of Atiku still didn’t spare him.
