I Joined Cult To Secure Employment – Suspect

Monday 17 September 2018

A suspected member of a cult group, Chinedu Emenike, has confessed that he joined a cult while in the higher institution in order to secure employment after graduation.

Emenike made this confession when he was paraded by the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr Anthony Ogbizi.

The police boss said the suspect was arrested by the internal security of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture in Umudike and handed over to police operatives in the Umuahia area command.

Confessing to the crime, Emenike blamed the devil for his involvement in cultism.

The suspect, who claimed to have dropped out of the Rivers State Polytechnic for lack of sponsorship, said he maintained his membership of the Aye Confraternity, which he joined on campus, so as to help him to secure a job or get contract through other members of the cult.

He said, “It is the work of the devil. I just went to celebrate with my friends that just finished their final year exams in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, when the school security men saw me and found incriminating items on me.

“I am a member of the Aye Confraternity and a former student of the Rivers State Polytechnic. I joined the cult group so that our men can help me with job upon graduation. But I did not graduate because of money. My parents did not have enough money to sponsor me through school, that was why I dropped out.

“I have learnt tiling. I went to MOUAU to see if I could meet any of our members that could just help me out because I came to Umuahia not long ago. I needed job, business connection or any other thing that can sustain me.”

However, the state Commissioner of Police said the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution, having made some confessions.
