Senator Ben Murray Bruce has yet again taken another swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari. In a twitter post on Saturday afternoon, the federal lawmaker queried president Buhari for ‘contradicting his spokesmen’.
Garba Shehu in a statement on August 21st had said the president trekked 800m was to prove to critics he was for to contest for a second term. In his words:
“I think there are two things here; one is to say that the President is responsive to the enormous support and commitment of his own people that had come out in their numbers to see him and he just decided that he couldn’t go on riding in a black vehicle and he came out and walked to the distance.
“The second thing, he is curious that these days, one or two people who are aspiring to be president are campaigning on their youthfulness and good health… The President is fit, he is healthy; he is good to go for second term.”
Senator Ben Bruce said it would have been better for the president to at least pretend his spokesman was right so people don’t doubt Garba Shehu next time.
He wrote
Why does President Buhari keep on contradicting his spokesmen? Your spokesman said you walked and proved your fitness and you contradicted him because the PR stunt failed. Tomorrow, who do you want to believe what @GarShehu says? At least for his sake you should have played along
