Almost 300 victims of natural disasters in Ekiti State received relief materials from the Federal Government on Thursday.
The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, flagged off the distribution on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari at the office of the National Emergency Management Agency in Ado Ekiti.
Fayemi said Buhari was concerned about the plight of victims of natural disasters like rainstorm and flood, many of whom had been rendered homeless.
Relief materials distributed included bags of rice, millet and cement; corrugated iron sheets, blankets, mats and detergents.
The minister was joined in distributing the materials by the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mustapha Maihaja.
Others at the event were Governor Ayodele Fayose, who was represented by his Special Assistant on Emergency Matters, Mr. Akinwale Rasheed; and General Manager of the State Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Femi Osasona.
The minister said, “The President is for all Nigerians and that is why the states that have benefited most are opposition states.”
