The Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Mr. Abdullahi Muhammadu, has pleaded to the Federal Government to further assist the corps with funds and logistics to enable it to perform effectively in tackling security challenges in the country.
Muhammadu made the appeal at the inauguration of the building projects on the premises of the headquarters of the Ondo State Command of the NSCDC in Akure, the capital.
He said, “I wish to particularly appreciate Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for his tremendous support and assistance to the corps and for providing the enabling environment to enhance operational efficiency.
“However, I am appealing for further assistance, especially in the area of capacity building and manpower development as well as the provision of logistics and modern equipment to further enhance our capacity to effectively deliver our mandate and tackle the present security challenges confronting us as a nation.”
The CG, who was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Commandant-General, Mr. Kelechi Madu, commended the people of Ondo State for their support, promising that they would continue to work hard to protect lives and property.
The Commandant of the NSCDC in Ondo, Mr. Adeyinka Ayinla, said that the building project was funded by the people and corporate bodies in the state, noting that the development was an indication of a good partnership between citizens and the NSCDC.
Akeredolu, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Sunday Abegunde, commended the NSCDC and other security outfits in the state for their efforts in protecting lives and property, assuring them of his administration’s continued support for them.
