A good number of women moan when they’re having s*x, especially considering how quiet your average guy is when doing the dirty. While it seems to be taken for granted that females are making noises to vocalize their pleasure, researchers conducted a modestly sized study to better figure out what was behind all those noises – and they were surprised at what they found.
In fact, it seems that the moans from women may not be so much an expression of their own pleasure as an incentive for men to do their job better. The participants in the research moaned the most before their climax or during a partner’s.
The moans of manipulation“These data together clearly demonstrate a dissociation of the timing of women experiencing climax and making copulatory vocalizations and indicate that there is at least an element of these responses that are under conscious control, providing women with an opportunity to manipulate male behavior to their advantage,” the researchers wrote, according to ANI.
Still, the fact that these moans are at least partially a way to manipulate a partner raises other questions. In one way, it seems like common sense that women would moan louder before their climax, because the noises could help a guy figure what he’s doing right – and keep doing it, all the way to the finish line.
Dr. John Grohol speculates that females may be conforming to an “idealized s*xual script” that mandates moans, the news source reports. He also believes that these bedroom noises are meant to help a man achieve climax.
Whatever the case, the bottom line is that, if there’s moaning in the bedroom, someone feels good. Partners who are looking to keep the moaning going until the wee hours in the morning may want to consider warming lubricant, which provides a smooth, tingling and unforgettable experience.
